Virtual Poster Technical Requirements

Ohio Rural Health Association is offering a customizable template to poster presenters.

Download Poster Template

Use of this template is encouraged, but optional. The template is designed off of the #betterposter campaign circulating at many scientific meetings. The template aims to create an easy-to-scan and learner-centric poster that minimizes an overload of text and highlights the main findings of a study. More information about the design of the poster template is available in this Youtube video (borrowed from https://meetings.asco.org/am/poster-presenter-guidelines).

  • All Posters should be in LANDSCAPE (horizontal) format and saved as a PDF, PPTX, or PPT. There are no required dimensions or size limit due to the virtual nature of the poster. Users will be able to download the poster and zoom in/out for optimal viewing.
  • Please clearly print 1 email address on your poster for attendees to refer to should they have any questions or comments. If you do not wish to print your own email address, please list another email address for an appropriate contact person for your abstract.
  • Poster presentations should not contain any of the following: commercial logos, company names, brand or proprietary drug names. Only cooperative group, hospital, and non-profit company logos are permitted.
  • The Virtual Poster must be one page. Additional pages will not be accepted.
  • Please include a Word document with an outline of the poster and descriptions of the images/pictures. This document will make your poster accessible to attendees who are visually impaired, so please list text and images in the order you would expect the viewer to read or view the poster.
  • The file size may not exceed 25MB.

Virtual Audio File Requirements

  • Video files must be no longer than 5 minutes long.
  • Video files should be uploaded to YouTube and auto-captioned - please edit captions for word choice and content (see here for directions).
  • Link to YouTube should be provided at the time of poster submission.

Virtual Poster Design Requirements

  • Font size: 28pt or larger.
  • Black text on white background is most legible. If you want to use different colors, it is best practice to limit different color combinations to headlines and titles.
  • Recommended fonts: Verdana, Helvetica, or Arial. It’s possible that other fonts may have cross-operating system display issues. Letters should be easily read (sans serif is preferred for legibility and accessibility).
  • Avoid background images and watermarks that may detract from the read-ability of your poster.
  • If you put text over images, please use alt-text so the text can be read by a screen reader.
